SIRENIA performs My Lost Lenore!
« on: 09 November 2013, 17:40:51 »

I'm shocked to see Morten performing such an old and missed song with Sirenia, and Ailyn sounds great on it!

This is quite promising, imagine Sirenia played the whole Widow's Weeds some day :o

That was a very dull performance, with the exception of the lovely Ailyn! Morten sounded like shit, the guitars were very low, and they changed a few details.... but holy fuck :D Awesome to actually see it live!

^Well it is obiously hard to play an old-fashioned doomy track like that in a set full of Perils of the Deep Blue songs on it and make it sound like it's still the 90s, isn't it?

They're doing pretty good as a band now I guess, so they will hopefully get a bass player and keyboards to make their shows sound better ;)

Let them have it. Personally I think most of the first album is boring anyways, give me Beyond the Veil over it any day of the week (or World of Glass for that matter, but it's a different story).

I remember reading that Draconian dropped having a full-time keyboardplayer because it made touring difficult with so many members. I guess Tristania also have knowledge of this, and it's probably common for bands with "extra effects" like two vocalists and keyboards.

I guess, but I still think Morten could give a more passionate performance, but what do I know? :) The biggest change was the way they played my favourite part of the song, around 02:20 in the original song. They started to play the tremolo-picked riff too early.

Well, I haven't been around much lately, so I haven't came across this perfomance before but.... Ailyn keeps surprising me. She is maturing so rapidly as a vocalist, keeping my fingers crossed she will stay in the band (considering how fastly the other singers have left it before). I agree that Morten lacks depth on the growls, but well, we can't have it all. I hadn't enjoyed Sirenia much after Elixir with the exception of The 13th Floor so I never actually had much desire to see the band live. But if he brings some of the Widows Weeds to stage, I'm there, just for the sake of it.
