I find this sad...but i've been triyng real hard to like Ashes since I got it....and well it doesent seem possible.  I mean..i'm all for the changes and all but I cant find the emotion and beauty of Tristania in these songs.  I mean..shadowman is a great song as well as cure..but I listen to the album and those 2 songs are the only ones I want to listen : (  Anybody feel the same way about ashes?

(does not change my love for the band...but if the continiue in this direction well I will probably loss interest in the band...once again, I still love this band  : )   )

I feel exactly the same! I think that these album is the worst (yes i am sorry) of all Tristania's albums, why? Just because from the other albums i liked every single song, but now... i don't know it seems more comercial to me... Shadowman, the cure and Equilibrium are great songs i have to say... but Libre... I expected more than that... Well perhaps when I listen to this cd as many times the others I may change my opinion till then I only give this cd a 4/5
while the others have 5/5 i hope that in the tour gigs (if they come to the vask country, in spain) they play as well the old songs!

maybe it's a slump, a lot of bands have one once they have this many albums under their belt. i'm sure the next will be back to the old Tristania.

I don't think they'll look back and compose an album they've already released

I'm sure they don't... Anders text really doesn't sound so... and we all know that they love to experiment with music... :)

oh well, sometimes experimentation leads to good stuff, it just takes awhile to get used to.

the new Disturbed (i'm not sure if any of you like them) took me forever to get used to before i really liked it, it's pretty different from the other albums.

the next will be great!  :D

I'm tired of bands saying this just to try and increase sales.  Realistically I'd think 95% of the time bands never go back to their roots.  That number is quite conservative too.  For instance anyone who thinks My Dying Bride went back to their roots on The Light at The End of The World, clearly has never heard As The Flower Withers.  Tristania can boast that they have certainly evolved into something different on each album.  Wouldn't sounding like Widows Weeds be taking four giant steps backwards?

As for Disturbed fans I'm curious how many of you like their first album Down With The Sickness.  I've noticed they gained and lost alot of fans with Believe because its much more mature lyrically, vocally and polished production.  Darkness is a great song for sure though.

Sounds like Anders bought the new Killswitch Engage and OD'd on it. Trying hard to be artsy and show his guitar prowess but....He has NO guitar prowess...none nilch nonnen nada. Stick to one chord in various positions and let Einar carry the songs.
Fool yourselves with artsy ass kissing/EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES SYNDROME but this is mainstream NU Metal period. I guess a tour with Disturbed is next huh.

Trist has 2 choices really....improve the song writing or change their name if they want to peddle this garbage.

 POSSIBLE NEW NAME "SHITSTAINIA"

All you babies that cry "don't compare Trist to Nightwish" need to stop crying. with this gay ass release, ASHES they have entered Nightwishes gay mainstream arena, so yes they can be compared now.

I'm selling my copy of ashes for 5 bucks.... any takers? It sucks

well ok if you don't like just post: i don't like it. *add arugments here*
after that just leave the forum and if they sucked so bad forget this (for you embaressing) tristania faze and continue your life with listening tokio hotel or whateva.

i'm currently listening to endogenisis and i don't see what's so wrong with ashes. i like Tristania. there's no old and new tristania :P they might have change as ppl and so did they music :D i like all songs but the best one really depends of my mood :P
i won't curse tristania (like some do) if they change style again :D it's really soothing :P

if you're coming to say just that, why dont you go to a forum of a band that you actually like?

get out of here.

I like Ashes, it's my second favourite album of Tristania (first is BTV). I like the sleepy and dark atmosphere of it.

to ann die death : since when the Gathering plays electro music?

Well maybe Burning The Churches could be a little bit less aggressive, he could say only "Ashes? well i don't like it IMHO because of Andres guitar, because of sounds nu metal, etc, etc..." :)...without offend anyone (Tristania, fans, and so on...)

I like Ashes. I do miss the choirs and the violin(the violin in songs like Deadlocked, A Sequel of Decay etc. always gives me goosebumps) but the sound of Tristania I fell in love with is there. I guess one reason why is because I tend to like Kjetil's growling more then Morten's. The reason I like Tristania so much is because every album is unique and they don't continue to rehash the same thing over and over.

at first, i LOVE ashes. is that a sin?

and, btc, your points are pointless, not very good argumentation. tell su what si wrong about ashes in your opinion, what's wrong with anders playing guitar (which he is doing very well imo) and please tell us how YOU would improve the songwriting etc. I know the songwriting isn't perfect, but tell me a abnd on this planet who does write songs perfectly.

and if you have no other arguments like "ashes is shit": GET AWAY!
