Yes, OE lyrics sound much in place  talking about Tristania, but their image during WoG has changed and they unfortunately may never return to them

that isn't for granted, i hope they return to the old lyrics morten wrote
when i said he repeated him self i meant per CD
Widows Weed contains alot of words such as Angelore, Midwintertears and sirene etc...

BTV contains alot of words such as sanguine etc...
I would still very much like it if he was in the band! but without him tristania are getting to experiment more and who knows maybe Ashes will encompass BTV :) ---- I really HOPE SO!

I have alot of faith in tristania and in their new album.

On the lyrics: I saw some which Kjartan wrote for the band. Altough not written in the shakespearian english which Morten did (and got praised by so many of you), it's poetic and closer to the lyrics on BTV (Why is everyone referring to BTW?) than WoG IMO.

At this point I'm not even concerned about which style of lyrics they choose to employ as long as Ashes turns out to at least surpass World of Glass, I will be very satisfied.  Its kinda silly talking about what it will be like if they go back to the lyrics of Morten Veland because they cannot exactly imitate them nor would they want to I'd think.

Anyways I dunno if Shape of Despair is true Funeral, but I am looking forward to their new one Illusions Play.  As well as another of Pasi's side projects Ajattara, the new Amon Amarth album, the new Sirenia MCD and I will be the first to admit there is plenty more I need to hear!    :)

As I said... i don't think OE would have really fit for WOG...

Anyway... they're amazing... :)
I don't know Ajattara.. Doom too?
And the new Elis, Within Temptation (wanna have songs like Enter from them again... :))

I classify Ajattara as dark metal.  Possibly a way for Pasi to vent from Amorphis newfound direction.  Slow-mid tempo sound with heavy riffs combined with keyboard/synth to set an eerie atmosphere.  Simplistic sound creating a dark atmosphere with his vocals closest resembling a black scream in his native language with very few clean vocals.  Its an acquired taste.  Thats for sure!  :P

I'm just hoping they don't dive head first into electronic elements with Ashes.  They might indicate otherwise, but everytime a band gives an idea of the actual sound of their new album it seems to be way off.

I have heard World of Glass many times. It's not a bad album but disappointing in comparison to previous efforts. The fools should have kept Veland.

I don't agree with that. The album is only already very good because they did make it after the break..They let show the rest some courage some bravery and some teamspirit!! So, I think you have got to show some respect for this album only already because of that reason..and the songs aren't disappointing at all in my opinion...I think it has just something to do with your taste.

And about Veland.. "should have kept Veland"....And than...I mean Tristania was not only Veland....He wasn't the only one who has a very musical talent...What do you think about Vibeke for instance... I'm getting tired of the guys and girls who keep moaning about the fact Veland has left the band...and now Tristania isn't the same...and Tristania isn't as good as they were.

I agree with them Tristania isn't the same.. but a band just need sometimes some changement some refreshment..

I don't agree with the REAL fools Tristania isn't as good as they were.. I mean come on!! Morten is not the whole band! Tristania is still very good and maybe even better because they have let us show some courage to go on with the band even without morten...

Well anyway that's my opinion...

Cya,

Anne Violin

Yeah, you're right...
In my opinion whatever Tristania creates some people 'll ever critisize it...
Just look at the comments at the Sirenia Page to Sirenian Shores or so... just stupid....

I think that with the break of Morten Veland and Tristania, there was also a break between the Tristania fans. You have the groupe who loves the Tristania with Morten more than the Tristania without him and you have the groupe who loves the Tristania without Morten more. I'm one of the groupe who loves Morten's work more than that of the new Tristania. In my opinion WoG was also a dissapoinment, so I like Sirenia more, but I wait till the new Tristania album to make a new opinion, if it isn't my taste of music I won't be longer a Tristania fan but if it's a good album, than I'll have 2 very good Gothic bands. I hope the new album'll be good so that I've 2 very good Gothic bands. I don't say that I want that the new album is bad because I'm a Sirenia fan, that would be very stuppid. I respect it when people loves the new Tristania more, the only thing I want that they respect us too.

And there are a few people who like both bands...:)

But it seems that Tristania Fans aren't so radical... if you compare the comments/forums/guestbooks of both bands... (should be no generalisation - it's just what I recognised)
I just don't understand them... WOG wasn't such a big break that you love BTW and hate WOG in my opinion...

I don't know Morten personally, but I think it's not that easy to work with him... i think he is a little bit too convinced from his work... what should not mean it is bad... i hope you don't understand me wrong...

Hey guys, look at the bright side ! The split made two excellent gothic metal bands. Period ! I mean, World of Glass was excellent an excellent album, Beyond the Veil is still the highlight but WoG is still excelent, the only weak song on WoG (for me) is The Modern End which I didn't reaaally liked. And on the ohter side, Sirenia who produced two AMAZING albums. Now why are you complaining ? You get almost a new album per year instead of one per two years ! Hail to both bands and stop the ridiculous discussion about "Tristania not blah blah blah without Morten". That kinda pisses me off.

But I still hope that Ahes won't be too experimental and very limited on electronic sound.  :D
