Short interview with Vibeke - the teacher
« on: 11 April 2010, 12:17:01 »

Hi,
a few days ago I was watching some Tristania videos on youtube and noticed some comments with the information about the school Vibeke is teaching at. I was a little bit curious so I did some "googling" while I was listening to A Sequel Of Decay ;D I found a short interview in Norwegian, I guess it's from some school magazine or SLT... I hope it has never been published here (if yes, feel free to delete my post).

Original:

Vil du begynne igjen i din gamle jobb?
Hvis jeg hadde fått et tilbud jeg ikke kan si nei til så kan det være jeg begynner igjen.
Savner du å synge?
Ja, jeg savner litt å synge i studio og ha konserter og sånt.

And God bless the Google translator ;D

How old were you when you started singing on a stage?
I was 17 when I began to sing.
Did you tour by bus?
Yes, me and my band was sleeping in it.
How many concerts have you been?
I have had hundreds of concerts.
Where do you work now?
I am a teacher at Vardåsen school.
Do you have any children?
Yes, I have a boy named Gylve, two years old.
Are the ones you were in a band with still touring?
Yes, I think so, but with a different singer.
Do you want to start again in your old job?
If I had received an offer I can not say no to so may I start again.
Do you miss singing?
Yes, I miss a little bit of singing in the studio and concerts and stuff.

I don't know how old the interview is but I guess from 2007.

Impossible. :P In 2007 Gylve had 2 years, so he must born in 2005.... So I think date of this interview is ~ 2009. :P

Also notice on the first page of the pdf, there is a low quality picture of the album "Melodi Grand Prix 2010", which I would assume means the newspaper and, thus, the interview, is much more recent than 2007  ;)

Hehe, if she was to go back to singing, I wonder which music genre would she choose? Rock/metal or classical/opera? ;)

Thank you !
But what does she teach ? I've read that she was teaching music and... religion, but i can't believe this, as the lyrics of Tristania are more anti-religious than religious !

Well the interview is made by kids at the school she is working in, it was a paper the schoolclass was workin on, and its an elementary school, so the music teaching is very basic. I dont know if she teaches religion, I think its only music and some arts and crafts stuff. But it is for kids, 7-8 year olds..

You don't really need to be religious to teach religion. Although I'm not sure how much Norwegian religion education focuses on Christianity..
I also do find some Christian elements in WW & BtV, Veland is even wearing a cross necklace in the early live videos  ;)

I agree, knowledge of religion does not equal belief in religion.

I don't think that's a christian statement, many gothic musician wear those (I saw several at old Theatre of Tragedy photos). BTW, what christian elements did you find? WW is a love story in the Edgar Allen Poe style, BtV is about some afterlife/spiritual journey thing (I haven't figured that one out yet :P)
