Choir in A Sequel of Decay
« on: 30 January 2007, 01:34:27 »

Hey, does anyone know what the choir (or Vibeke, I'm not sure what it is exactly) is saying in the beginning of A Sequel of Decay?

There are various topics with guessed parts in latins, but I can't recall Sequel inbetween those.

I'm pretty sure that the choir is singing in English in the beginning of the song; I think I could make out the words "shaken by the dawn" in the very beginning.

What I hear is this:

Shaken by the Taurus
Slaying like the prolix
Sermon by the mortar [this line doesn't make much sense though]
Wait (...) my (...) emotion
Aeons of them lost
In argentine empty

[The next part I think is in latin but I don't speak latin so these words most probably do not exist]
Oporio (...)
Concurenium genum
Oporio(...)

Hmm...I've always heard "Enslave me like before" as the second line...I wish they'd post it in the lyrics.

I hear:

*shaken* by the dawn
Enslaving life and *****
sermon by them all to
wait on my sad emotion
Eons of a ghost
In Argentine Pending
*something in latin* Angina
*something in latin*
My decadent, come in

Any other ideas?

I think you got the first three lines correct (makes more sense than my attempt XD), but I think what I came up for the rest is better. I really do hear the "L" sound in "Aeons of them lost, in argentine empty", and it actually makes more sense. Also, I'd doubt they'd stick english words like Angina in the latin part (in anycase, it's pronounced more like "Angeena", which is why I first thought they said "Genum")

I'm sure we can figure this out :P

Here, in Brazil, we sing thus:

"Churkal mandatory saving life and glory.
Summer my demon till ways of my say devotion.
May insolder blust be argentine ending.
Conquering out stepping, not remember conquering angina.
Conquering out stepping, not remember conquering..."

but it doesn't make sense..

I'm pretty sure it's this:

Checkered by the dawn, enslaved in life enthralling
Swept up by the mortal waste of my enslaved emotion
Agents of the cross in argentine frailty
Hopefully you'll stop him and delay the conquering angina
Hopefully you'll stop him and delay the conquering...

I slowed this down to 80% on my player to make it out, and similar wording is used in other Tristania/BTV songs, so I'm about 95% sure.

For those who don't know, the "Beyond the Veil" songs are about life in cults, specifically David Koresh's and Jim Jones's. The female voice in this one would probably represent the woman who brought Congressman Leo Ryan to visit the People's Temple in Guyana (the clean male voice probably represents Ryan), which is the time when Jones decided to lead his camp into the mass suicide he's famous for (this would be the verse "May milleniums gather on the mirage of desolated souls... I breed my afterthought"). You'll notice a part around the middle of the song where SFXs which sound like shots are heard (the killing of Ryan and his followers by Jones' people). "Angina" and "...of Ruins and a Red Nightfall" are also about the same cult.

HTH... I have no problem with differing opinions, of course ;)

P.S.: "Argentine" = silver-colored, which is how the eyelids turn due to malnutrition. Nothing to do with Argentina  :)

I'd agree with you there. I've been wondering what she was saying...

it sounds more like "aeons of the cross" if you ask me, but other than that, this is the closest "translation" i've found  ;)

Hi! I had to register just to give my guess ;) Well this is what I hear.

Checkered by the dawn enslaved in life enthrolling
Sequel by the mortal blade of/on my enslayed emotion
Aeons on the gloss in argentine pending
Concuria stopping and prevail the conquering angina
Concuria stopping and prevail the conquering

Maybe it's both interpretations put together?

Checkered by the dawn, enslaved in life enthralling
Swept up by the mortal waste of my enslaved emotion
Aeons on the gloss in argentine pending
Concuria stopping and prevail the conquering angina
Concuria stopping and prevail the conquering...

ok, let's end that
what she says is this:

Churkal mandatory saving life and glory
summon my demon till ways of my say devotion
mei insolder blust be argenting ending
conquering upstanding not remember conquering angina
conquering upstanding not remember conquering.....

and that is it, i'm 100 % sure of it, you all can trust me
listen to the the music and compare with this lyrics, there's no way it be in another words
ok?
and the argenting word they say is about a argenting ending, what means what finishes in Tango(a ballroom dance of Latin-American origin)
i hopei have helped u all, anyway i enjoyed that forum and luv tristania 4ever

The only thing I'd disagree with, alhealer, is the last line - I definitely hear something different from "conquering upstanding not remember conquering."

mm .... well i think that if we put all together, like NightSanctuary said:

Checkered by the dawn, enslaved in life and glory
summoned by the mortal waste of my enslaved devotion
aeons of the gloss in argentine pending
(?) stopping and prevail the conquering angina
(?) stopping and prevail the conquering...

almost sure  :)

I like this, except "cross" seems more probable than "gloss", especially if it's about cults.
