I personally prefer Kjetil's growling, it sounds more agressive to me, which IMO fits better in Tristania sound...
What's your opinion?

Imho "Morten" Tristania are different than "Kjetil" Tristania...WW and BTW probably are so beautiful because of Morten's sounds...WOG and Aahes are beautiful too because of NOT Morten's sounds... :)...i don't have a preference between them, even if i love most WW and BTW... :)

Kjetil has more a Death Metal/Hardcore voice (afaik he is the former singer of a hardcore band), Mortens voice is not so agressive and fits better in the typical Gothic Metal sound. Since some songs on Ashes are too agressive in my opinion I'd prefer Morten or some similar singer.

Ehm... The growls on WoG are by Trail of Tears' Ronny Thorsen.

I think both growlers in the original question fit the music at that time. Let's do not forget that Anders did a fair share of growling on albums as well.

This is really embarrassing, but can you point out a time where Anders growls? I can never signify him out from the others.    :(

I can't tell it on the album, but you can see it at gigs. (I don't know if the double growl in Aphelion on BtV was two takes of Morten or Morten and Anders.)

The best example is at the end of "Wasteland's Caress". Thats the best part in any song I know.  B)

If you compare Anders voice on WW and BtV and Kjetils voice on ASHES (the beginning of Libre for example) there is really not much difference. When I first listened to ASHES I really thought it was Anders voice.

I know better  :P .
Libre. That's just perfect. Crossing between recitation (03:29-03:41) and growling (03:42-??:??) is most impressive...

Well...I just didn't know where to put it. So I chose "the-first-album-without-Morten" section  ;)

Personally I prefer Morten.  His voice is slightly softer, and has a more tranquil appeal to it.  While Kjeti gives me the whole "don’t eat me" Thought.
