2013 is set to be a great year. Deep Purple / Black Sabbath / Alice in Chains / Tristania are all going to release their new records.

I'm waiting also for Within Temptation, Trail Of Tears, HIM and Sirenia's new albums...probably I will be as usual disappointed, but... ;)

Comparing the new album to Ashes, that's bold... I hope it lives up to highest expectations.

While we're at it (and need something to pass time anyways until DW is out), what other records should we be looking forward to?

So apparently, the final tracklist is this:

01 - Number (4:53)
02 - Darkest White (3:32)
03 - Himmelfall (5:59)
04 - Requiem (7:48)
05 - Diagnosis (5:12)
06 - Scarling (5:28)
07 - Night on Earth (3:42)
08 - Lavender (5:21)
09 - Cypher (5:53)
10 - Arteries (4:18)

Initial reports say that the new album is amazing, with a great atmosphere and lyrics, and a less "poppy" style compared to Illumination and Rubicon.

I'm very interested and excited now. Seems like the album's gonna be a mix between Rubicon and Ashes.
And with an average length of 5:12 per song (51+ minutes total), seems like we're going back to longer songs in general, which is always nice.

Most likely. Not sure which one it is now, but some of those titles were definitely placeholders.

Oh, that makes sense. It's just like what they did with The Emerald Piper.

Yup.

But where did you get those lenghts? Do you found and read any reports from journalists, who was on pre-listening in Oslo? :)

And about Requiem - concert version of this song was about 5:10, so it probably will have long intro/outro, or those lenghts are not 100% truly. :P

Nope. Some reviewers who already have it are registered on Last.fm, and they scrobbled the tracks.

For example:
http://www.lastfm.com/music/Tristania/_/Arteries
http://www.lastfm.com/music/Tristania/_/Night+On+Earth
http://www.lastfm.com/music/Tristania/_/Cypher

All the tracks are scrobbled there, just replace the names in the link.

Also, do we have any news about Einar?

There's a rumor that he might've left the band, and that the new album doesn't have him playing keyboard.
Seems like he's been absent in the last few years. As far as I know, his only contribution on Rubicon was the Illumination track.

Few months ago, on Tristanias facebook page, they shared picture with old, covered in dust keayboard, and description of this picture was "Einar? Please..." or something very similiar. Interesting thing is, that I can't find this picture anymore! :S

In left down corner. But this picture itself is no longer on their page.

Anyway, shop in Poland is talking pre-orders for Darkest White!
And that means, amazon probably will make that soon too. And amazon = samples :P

Huh... interesting.
I wonder if they're gonna make a statement on that soon.

Also, yes. Can't wait to get some samples of the album.  ;D

I hope he's still in the band, I love his contributions and the songs he writes usually are my favourites on- every album :(

And what about "Dictator" changed name too?

That'd be a bummer. After all, he's the only founding member left in the band beside Anders. But his absence is becoming conspicuous; can anybody say anything concrete?

Cathedral WILL be a bonus track just like The Emerald Piper on a 'limited' edition.

Here's what I've got myself ;)

01. Number (4:50).
02. Darkest White (3:32).
03. Himmelfall (5:45).
04. Requiem (6:08).
05. Diagnosis (5:06).
06. Scarling (5:24).
07. Night on Earth (3:38).
08. Cathedral (4:10) - Bonus Track.
09. Lavender (5:16).
10. Cypher (5:45).
11. Arteries (4:16).

Most of them nice 5 minute lenghts :D

New studio report: http://www.tristania.com/2010/index.php/studio-report-by-anders-part-ii/

A few things that caught my interest:

- "Ole is responsible for most of the musical ideas for the album."

- Drums described as "Powerful natural sound with a lot of punch!", and the guitars are described thusly: "During the years weve recorded guitars with class amplifiers such as Engl, Marshall, Peavey and Mesa, but weve never managed to get as heavy and raw guitar-sound as we did this time"

- And the biggest of all: "Darkest White is the first Tristania album with no acoustic guitars whatsoever. Not because it was a point in itself, but it simply wasnt needed in these songs. I guess it reflects the brutal nature of this album."

Oh really? I wasn't expecting something like this, now Tristania REALLY is a different band.  :o

Even more raw than The Wretched? Wow, this might be nice  ;)

Did he mean acoustic or clean-sounding guitars? I love those 'cleaner' riffs like on The Ravens and Shadowman, and the addition of 'acoustic' guitars on songs like Tender Trip on Earth and Equilibrium was really nice...  :-\

Anyway, they can do whatever they want and still make a good album I guess. It's not like this is the first time they make so many changes, is it?  ::)
