I remember well the quotation of a certain socialist guy.

"Religion is an opium for masses."
To be religious person is one thing. But to be a beleiver (in God) is totally other.

I was an agnostic before but now with increased leanings towards paganism, I consider myself a Pagnostic!    :P

Pretty much the same here :D

Let's create our own Pagnosic cult, so we can have obedient minions to do all our menial tasks, bring us food/drink ect. :D

The fact that what I just said is a contradiction in terms only gives it credibility as a religion ;)

Maybe it's fair to say what I am as well: I've been raised with christian principles and basics, but I've never been baptized. My parents are both from different cults within christianity (Roman-catholic and Calvinist protestant) so they left me and my brother with the choise to choose whatever I want.

I've chosen to be a opponent of most religions, including the ones my parents  come from. Mainly because they contradict the values they preach and what outrages me is the continuing disrespect towards women and non-heterosexuals. If their job is to spread theories of love and respect (because religion is, IMO, nothing more than organised theories with a following (same applies to science)), they do a real shitty job in it. (Needless to say I despise conservative cults like the Mormons the most).

Besides that: I don't care if there are gods and if there are, I prefer regional traditional gods, not that judeo-christian-muslim import figure. Gods revered in nature.pagan-religions tend to have their flaws as well, making them more intresting than this boring figure from the 'Middle East'.

I am a spiritual person, but not a subject to (a) god(des) or religion.

Indeed I think its a thing of 'lover the sinner, hate the sin' kind of thing. I absolutely despise homosexuality straight out but at the same time I love the person himself and won't be bashing gays based on what life they live. So I defintely agree with you in that respects. As for disrespect to women leave it all to the idiotic christian fundamentalists. As for the Muslim religon, people don't realize that Muslim women are quite happy and contented with the life they live. The only reason why people criticize it is because of once again the dumbass America propaganda that NBC and CBS are feeding to North America and the rest of the region
And just to stay on that point, Islam is the only religion that I have some admiration for.

See that's the problem. Individual spirtuality actually evolved from the same Christian religon that you dislike. The word 'spirituality' would never hold any meaning if religion never existed. And that's the problem with atheists, there arguments are so flawed that it goes from being outrageous to straight out funny.

Well coming from Iran myself where Islam is a national religon, I would have to agree with you. But the whole American propaganda thing I don't agree with. I don't believe the U.S is trying to change the middle east. You don't change thousands and thousands of years of civilization with just one invasion or if they are trying to do that they need to go nuclear beacuse believe nothing is even budging except more people are being killed

And as for your thing on the atheist: I respect others belief but its only natural that someone starts off as an agnostic or athiest. Because the only way one will believe in God is if the have walked and experienced it themselves. It happened to me and it'll be a day I would never forget. (btw, I too watch at NBC and CBS  )

Sorry, this is bullshit. Individual spirituality has been around before christianity even existed (ever heard of this guy they named Buddha?). Maybe I know of 'spirituality' because of the christian background of Europe (christians were/are pretty good in wiping or adapting elements from other religions, the whole ressurrection story predates Jesus in multiple religions). I can't reject that the world as we know it has been largely influenced/subjected by christianity, but you credit too much to christianity.

And why would you hate homosexuality? Because some dipshot several thousand years ago wrote it in a book?

On topic of islam, "islam" is as broad as christianity: a family of religions with common believes, but ranging from extreme conservative cults to extreme progressive ones. Both religions (and their common ancestor: the jewish religion) are historicly patriarchal, in both religions women have a lesser role in general than men.

By the way: I've experienced the love of "god" before I rejected it, there was nothing.

Last time I checked Buddhism was a religon also.

That in itself is contradicting (or some other word  ) Anyways, the Love of God has nothing to do with the 'human' feelings in the way you are using it to mean a type of reaction that occurs with in the body due to biological responses. Its completely independent of earthly qualities.

O.K. guys.
As within all major religions you are now having a discussion which can be characterized as "who has the bigger dick".
Sorry guys but that is off-topic and I think completly irrelevant.

And, also, you can preserve that sort of knowledge and discussions for intelectual circles or soemthing like that.
