I was brought up as a catholic. I'm still a practicing one too though I don't consider the religious dogmas to be anything important. Cause the sacred books of each religion to me is enough to live a good life.

As for me, used to be a staunch athiest, but lately i've been gravitating in a more pagan/heathen direction... :P

I was an agnostic before but now with increased leanings towards paganism, I consider myself a Pagnostic!    :P

I believe in God and for quite a long time mainly because everything that is supposed to shake my faith is really quite funny. Also I've had my own....let's say experiences with God in prayer and in other ways. So everything fits in perfectly well. The bible is basically the easiest thing to follow. I however do not have any religious dogmas that I adhere to. I believe that religion serves more like wedge than a bridge to God.

As a gnostic I do beleive in God but I just don't recognize any institution in relegion.
I don't think I need it to be a beleiver.

My mother is Catholic and my dad is Presbyterian but I was raised Catholic. I stopped going to church at the age of 12 or so, as I found myself not believing anything they preached. I drifted towards paganism in my teens but right now I'm agnostic.

This is a sort of problem for me.
I finished up a theological high school (actually a classical gimnasium but under the patronage of catholic priests and their theological techings). I know a lot of priests (even our cardinal) but institution is just not for me.
I have a ritual to go every sunday woth local priest to lunch. I wait for him till the mass is over and then we go. I don't go into church and my mother still gets pissed at me. And after the lunch with priest I go to a coffee with local hodja. And we talk about religion and they never force me to anythings. They are even pleasured with my choices. At least I know what I beleive in.

Funny thing also, my roomate's father was a priest. A franciscan. And my roomate is like me.  :D

I envy you because to me the hardest thing is to resist temptations. I mean it takes a lot of strength and experience to do something like that.

I think one of the best way to do something like resist temptation is to adhere to the old Gothic Culture of the pre-adamite sultans. In that particular gothic culture, one lived in both darkness and light for a period of time. Because the whole idea is that if one experiences darkness and evil then he would be able to fight through and overcome it so if befalls him a second time he will be able to resist it. Pretty simple but it worked...its a pity that the gothic culture is no more because it truly was a great way to live both religiously and godly, whichever way you want to take it.

I remember well the quotation of a certain socialist guy.

"Religion is an opium for masses."

To be religious person is one thing. But to be a beleiver (in God) is totally other.
