...yeah, about that: is that Ulver's third album? I'm still new to the group, but the first album was AMAZING! I listed their album as the best of 1995 in the game thread from Rover.

yes it is! a longtime fav, as the others.
don't worry reumeren, ulver will never disappoint you, either you're looking for badass black metal (bergtatt and nattensa madrigal), folk stuff (kveldssanger), electronic (early 2000s) or ambient (shadows of the sun). you'll tell me!

It's WAY more coherent and enjoyable than the previous one. Probably the best avant-garde metal album of the year, along with Devin Townsend Project's "Deconstruction".

I never really "got" into Agalloch by listening to single songs on YouTube. Could you suggest me one specific album to start with?

I would say Ashes Against the Grain, but then again, Agalloch is not a typical metal band either. I would say it's more like if early Pink Floyd had been doing metal. To me, Agalloch is an experience rather than "listening to songs". Not sure if I'm describing correctly :|

Oranssi Pazuzu - "Kosmonument" (2011)

01. Sienipilvi (05:57)
02. Komeetta (06:34)
03. Uusi olento nousee (05:21)
04. Luhistuva aikahäkki (06:23)
05. Maavaltimo (05:42)
06. Siirtorata 100 10100 (04:08)
07. Andromeda (08:57)
08. Loputon tuntematon (05:50)
09. Kaaos hallitsee (08:24)
10. infinite (08:57)

Total: 66:13

http://grooveshark.com/album/Kosmonument/7154096

After the awesome debut "Muukalainen Puhuu" (2009), the Finnish band Oranssi Pazuzu is back to drug us again with more psychedelic black metal, although this time the psychedelia comes in the form of space ambient/noise, instead of relying completely on the strong 70's psychedelic rock influence of the debut (which is still present, anyways). One big acid trip. Totally recommended!

And, in case you haven't listened to it already, here's a link to their first album:

Attention, Reumeren! I think you'll like this.

DDT "Otherwise"
The newest double CD from one of my favourite bands, which is also one of the most popular rock/metal bands in Russia. They have a much renewed lineup and a new, very much industrial direction. I saw them live on the "Otherwise" tour just days ago, where the entire CD 1 of the record was played, with great video and very good new sound.

I must say that the direction of the band is a little alarming, I hope they're not going off the rails musically. But I liked a lot of new songs back when I heard them in Jan. 2010 - actually very few of the new songs (at least on CD 1) are brand spanking new; some have been in the setlist for 2 or 3 years.
Some from the Nov.16 gig:
Sunlight
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCHSwPtCiIE
Song of Freedom
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbC_7djoFnw
The Crisis
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptMUDeVFBLM
Write a letter (minus a few secs in the beginning)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7neNw0CFGU
Identify Yourself
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s41v3yiDORE
They have come for you
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPe6O-BI_Ks
And a favourite from 2008 that unfortunately didn't make it to the new set list and was much mutilated on record: Lord of the Flies (WIP title The Beast, The Alien, etc.) It sounded unbelievable in 2010 as well, but... not anymore. Thank God for youtube then. Enjoy!

A band I recently discovered - the swedish Ghost. Their album is called Opus Eponymous, and it really got under my skin. I've been listening to it soo much. It's a mix of doom and heavy metal, and below you can listen to my favorite song of theirs:

Sorry, didn't notice that until now. Yeah, some really obscure stuff!  :o sounds like a horror movie sometimes, and I like the (somewhat) laid back atmosphere.

Let's keep this alive!

A relatively recent discovery of mine was Silencer, and their first and only album: Death - Pierce Me. I like to consider it a "De Mysteriis Dom. Sathanas"-type album, because of the controversy surrounding the band members. The album is fantastic, and it is one of the best black metal albums I think I've ever heard! It's so violent, and the atmosphere is fantastic. It feels genuinely threatening and dangerous.

Take a listen if you want to feel uncomfortable. It's not bad actually, music should make you feel.

Interesting band! It's been a while since I've listened to any new black metal album, so I'm downloading this right now.
On a related note, do you know Altar Of Plagues? I think their last album, "Mammal", could suit you.

Actually, I have listened to very little metal in the last month. Only Ministry's comeback album, "Relapse" (industrial thrash, very furious!) and Tyrant Of Death's new album, "RE CONNECT" (extreme industrial metal http://tyrantofdeath1.bandcamp.com/ ) have really done something for me (both are going straight to my favorites of 2012, for sure).
I've been listening to lots of trip-hop. I've devoured the complete discographies of Massive Attack (purchased 2 of their albums), Portishead (and one of theirs), Tricky and Blackmouth, plus Ulver's "Perdition City"; I accompanied that with healthy doses of drone: White Ring and †‡† (Ritualz) (ghost drone a.k.a. witch house), The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation's new album, "Egor", Vibracathedral Orchestra (folk drone avant-garde) and some Earth and Sunn O))) drone doom classics that could never be missing. Plus, Sunn O)))'s last live album, "Agarthi Live 09-10" is AMAZING. Attila Csihar really outdid himself here!

You know me very well, Fernando  ;) Great discovery!!! It definitely has that disturbing sound that I like in bands like Silencer. I regret reading the lyrics though - as I always do!  >:(

The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza
Spectacular math/grind/djent with a good amount of humor that has me very excited.
I started with their last album: http://grooveshark.com/album/Danza+III+The+Series+Of+Unfortunate+Events/4873780
And then the other two followed: http://grooveshark.com/album/Danza+II+The+Electric+Boogaloo/3864556

The Spiritual Bat - "Cruel Machine"
Italian rocker bats.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Avdfll9kP9E

Decapitated - "Carnival Is Forever"
Those grooves!

Love Sex Machine.
A sludgecore steamroller.
http://throatruinerrecords.bandcamp.com/album/love-sex-machine

Now I am giving Napalm Death's "Utilitarian" a fair amount of listens. It's a pretty awesome album.

Saving the best for last: also from Italy, Ufomammut's new album, "Oro: Opus Primum", is my current candidate for album of the year! It's so mind-blowingly psychedelic and so immensely doom! It makes you fly and it crushes you into the ground at the same time!
