I like them... and saw them just live in January...

In this thread was already a discussion about LC:

I've only Unleashed Memories and Comalies.Christina's voice is strong and beautiful. I've listened to these CDs a lot, but I got bored of them after a week or two. Maybe some time in the future I'll spin them once more ;)

Lacuna Coil's older stuff didn't really do much for me; not really my style.  The later stuff, say, from Halflife onward (my copy of Unleashed Memories has Halflife tacked onto the end), is more appealing.  It is the kind of music that catches your attention right away but I agree with Nordlys, it doesn't really have lasting value.  I can't play their CDs constantly like my Tristania or Agalloch or Opeth CDs.  I agree, Cristina has a good voice (and she is hot... wow is she a babe) and most of the time Andrea does too, and I really like their drummer.  One thing about LC, though, is that I've never been able to make any sense of their lyrics.

I really love this band Like "the devil", my favorite album is "In a Reverie". I Discored them when there was a big comparison with The Gathering in 1999, for the release of "In a Reverie".
Back at this time, I remember saying it was a pale imitation of The Gathering. After all these years, I think they are one of the major bands.

The more I listen to bands the less similarities I detect between bands...

And The Gathering will be uncomparable forever I suppose... :)

I work the same way. The fact is, we progress everyday with new music & bands.
Our ears used to make the difference between sounds. In 1999, I was kinda new to this genre of music.

Lacuna Coil are great I just hope they don't get anymore accessible.  Favorites are Entwined, Circle and Wave of Anguish.

Yeah... just think of the endless Nightwish-compared-to-any-other-female-fronted-band-discussions... :)

Don't know what really my favourites are...  :)

I don't hope so too, but i suppose there's the label the bigger danger...

I'd consider Lacuna Coil to have more in common with Evanescence than either do with The Gathering.  Anneke is truly in a league of her own.

I never understood the Lacuna Coil vs. The Gathering comparisons.  The Gathering might have made one album that sounds like an LC album.  I only own Nighttime Birds; I've heard sound samples from other albums and not many of them sound like Lacuna.  And I don't think any Lacuna Coil album has the atmosphere or style as Nighttime Birds.

Mandylion was a milestone for the Goth Metal Genre...
But I wouldn't compare it to any LC album either... I think LC have a pretty own style...

Mandylion will never be matched in the genre imo.  The more Lacuna Coil are compared or at least mentioned with The Gathering, the more credit you are actually giving the band regardless of your actual statement towards either.

Heh, and I don't understand the Evanessence vs LC connection...maybe it is because I don't want to...like I kinda block it out for lotsa reasons, but I am a reasonable person and i listen to what people have to say, and when they compare the two of the above...I guess I just can't stand to hear so,....eh who knows...

I found Lacuna's old stuff enticing - but not actually enough to buy an album.

But saying this - A friend made me pick between a few albums in a record store recently and I gladly scooped out Comalies - and I was blown away...I mean yes i've always been interested in them, but now I love them.

I'm aware that the songs are not the most imaginative of works, but it's a somewhat refreshing breeze of simplicity after days full of Nightwish, Tristania, Dargaard, Moonspell etc. I'm proud to say I own their work :D

i think LC are pretty good. but honestly, i would like them better if their were dropping the male singer. i like band with mal and female vocals (obviously!), but i found his voice boring, and cristina sings way better than him. same thing with marco in nightwish. at least, he doesn't sing that often...

I agree with you about the male singer in LC, guess he just there cos he`s Cristina`s boyfriend
Marco from Nightwish sounds okay - at least he`s better then Tuomas was on a couple of songs!
