^^I think we all get the deal with the -ia suffix, but it's just became so freaking annoying (Tristania, Sirenia, Imperia, blablablaia...). And ''mortem'' sounds really familiar to ''Morten'' so.... Go figure. You don't exactly need to be a brain surgeon to figure that one out.

What a Looser

Obviously he its out of Ideas so he had to remake the most successfully record he ever made (and I don't mean in record sales BTV give Tristania projection around the world and I know some of you know tristania before but most of the people we know them after they release that album)

and is Obvious the Band name is just a monument for his EGO

This guy should have a one man band but he is to lame for that

And i dont give a shit who the (Female) singer will be (Problably will be another dissmiss of american Idol or something like) and as always she will participate only in one album, well two maximum

Well,I think the name "MORTEMIA" don't come from Morten's name.

See..

Mortem(with "M") it's a latin word,means "Death"..

In countries like Portugal, Italy, Spain and France the word mortem is very similiar to then "death-word".

I'm italian. Here death is Morte and comes from latin "mors, mortis"
Morten instead in italian is Martino and means "discendent of Mars"

I don't like it, it sounds like Sirenia without Ailyn's voice :]

No, he didn't :]

Quote
MORTEMIA's "Misere Mortem" is the latest work by gothic metal giant Morten Veland. His brand-new band's debut album continues to justify the Norwegian mastermind's outstanding reputation within the dark scene over the years. His signature compositions deliver smashing metal songs enveloped in sonorous and mythic choral arrangements, as well as sensual melody lines. The classical passages fit in perfectly with the overall atmosphere, refining with myriad details MORTEMIA's unique and melancholic sound, as only Veland can. It is the master himself, who lends his aggressive vocals to the nine new tracks, further embellishing them with a darkened aura. Coupled with the mastering expertise of Finnvox Studios, Morten Veland has created a gothic metal album not only far removed from any inkling of kitsch and pop, but also one that will thrill fans of Tristania's classic "Beyond the Veil". "Misere Mortem" is already a gem of the somber scene and will undoubtedly allow the gothic metal of the glory days a well deserved comeback!

It sounds like he's going for the whole 'epic' feel we got Beyond the Veil, and I like it. We haven't really heard music like this since early Tristania and the Sirenia debut. The only thing I don't get is why he can't release this with Sirenia?

I'm looking forward to this  Smiley

That's what I was wondering, too. Unless the rest of the album is very different, this wouldn't sound out of place in Sirenia.

Nice first impression: it is dark, catchy and back to the old era. Well done!

thanks for posting the cover..
and yes it is different from Sirenia:no female vocals and much darker, less catchy than 113th Floor Tongue

Oh yea. Morten's doing it daaaaaaamn riiiiiiiiiight  Cool

Why not releasing it with Sirenia... Well, I assume as Sirenia got softer after The Elixir... he's gonna continue that sound with it because basically the guitar lines are the only really ''sirenian'' thing in this song, and going harsher again with Mortemia. Sirenia quit the choirs, quit more or less growls....

Gosh, this is faaaaaaaar better than I expected. This guy is freakin brilliant. Grin He's .... A New Hope.

Sooooooo looking forward to this, the sample sounds amazing! If the whole album is done in this style, I'm sure gonna love Moretemia more than I do (the new) Sirenia Smiley

Also, the tracklist for Misere Mortem:
1.The One I Once Was
2.The Pain Infernal and the Fall Eternal
3.The Eye of the Storm
4.The Malice of Live´s Cruel Ways
5.The Weel of Fire
6.The Chains That Wield My Mind
7.The New Desire
8.The Vile Bringer of Self Destructive Thoughts
9.The Candle at the Tunnel´s End

Why do all the song titles begin with "the"? It's annoying...
I guess it will be a great album, but never as good as Beyond The Veil or Ashes  Cheesy
