Wow, someone really put 500 feet in your asses, ey? I for one, am looking forward to hearing what he's up with now. I gotta say, he really picked the lamest name for a band/side project ever (and I'm generally totally sick with all the bands ending with -ia; when it was just Tristania, Sirenia and Tristitia twas OK, but now every third band is somejunk-ia, gosh).
I don't know why you all have it in your minds that following the concept of BTV means copying it and none more. As for, he did more than just BTV with Tristania and BTV isn't a copy of WW, so why would anyone do that?
If you're still living in 2001 taking sides, Morten vs. Tristania, go take it elsewhere. I myself love Sirenia and I admit NDAAD was a bit of a letdown for me (but I still like it more than tones of other stuff, I was just sure, than he can do better), but all other albums were great and definately not a copy of each other. The man has a lot of ideas, but people who are suppose to help him get this ideas bring to effect, keep runing away (well, after all the argues he has had with fellow musicians, it's obvious that Morten's the bitch there, but I'm not his wife, I'm a fan, so I don't have to deal with it).
I don't know what the hell is so great about this evolving you keep talking about. Every band matures, but just because they don't change their music style, it doesn't mean they are not creative or maturing. It's harder IMHO to stay original in one genre than trying out new styles and mixing them, to cover up the lack of inspiration (and I'm not talking about Tristania here, but bands in general that take a leap outside the frames they used to be in). Some bands go bad, some get better. And there'll always be people hating the new sound always have people loving the new sound, and always have some, who'll grant something good in both.
