I think this movie is simply unnecessary. My fear is that it will be kinda boring with a great Soundtrack ^^ But we'll see.

I thought Nightwish sounded like a movie soundtrack on their last album...

Well it sounds to me like a artistic movie. Might be great !

Recently Within Temptation came also with a movie project on their new album. It doesn't have to be like a soundtrack, also the band can be involved more. So I am positive about using a movie to tell a musical story. It can be great if it is done in a good way, because only a soundtrack wouldn't be that pushing as Tuomas normally is I guess.

Who cares about the movie? I'd just get the audio CD and be done with it.

nightwish have surely been a great love of mine but since it's quite known among all my friends and not a secret at all even on the web, i'll make it short: for me nightwish mean nightwish with tarja, period.
every man has some weak points in his life and she is (with pride ;D) mine. after all you can't love something so much for so much time and expect to lov it as well when it drastically changes (which for me in this case means vocal-wise [not only technically of course] but also music-wise and concerts-wise).

this doeasn't mean i'm not interested in what they do anymore; i also saw them live in 2009 (being in first row with one of my best friends and enjoyed like hell due to that but, sorry, an terrible experience as far as the rest is concerned). i will surely check the new album out but, you know... ok, no hype, no excitement. just like awaiting a common, average album by an average band.

recently i was talking to some friends and thought that actually since i'm not a silly 13 (anymore ;D) it can't be that i don't like nighwish anymore just because tarja isn't the singer anymore; after all two other huge loves of mine (tristania and theatre of tragedy) suffered the same changes and i still love them like on the first day. so, in fact i don't think they suffered that much (and consider that i always worshipped liv kristine's vocals as well). so i came to the (sad?) conclusion that i never liked tuomas's songwriting as much as i thought. i still don't wanna believe to this but fact is that a song like Poet and the Pendulum, which wins also the hearts of most of old-time fans, simply leaves me indifferent.

anyway, i'd happily welcome a return to the past as far as symphonic parts are concerned! i'm a bit tired of all this orchestras in metal (in too many bands), with keyboard players pressing a key and then obtaining the sound of the philarmonic orchestra of wien ;) that isn't playing anymore i think... and moreover, all those symphonies in my opinion suffocate the rest a bit. i'd prefer to listen to proper classical music or scores, at this point.

I love Nightwish a lot.
I'm just getting sick of all of this Tarja vs. Anette crap. Just get over it!!!
Frankly, I think both singers are great and Dark Passion Play kicks ass.
But my fave album is probably Oceanborn. Tuomas is a great composer.
My fave songs are prob Ghost Love Score and The Islander

*cough* Tristania anyone? *cough*
I'm rather indifferent to Nightwish now, I must admit, but that's because I've grown tired of the band as a whole. Never were a rabid fan (so to speak) anyways. But I reserve to any band the right to replace the part that has become a hindrance or came loose in any sense of this world. More so the part that wants to break free anyways.

Though with Tristania, it was even more drastic (I mean, 5 of 7 members in 3 years, and Einar is now a wild card as well) but we've all lived with it somehow. Well, most of us anyways - I see some of the forum members have bailed, as probably have some of the concert-going fans but probably a small portion of these.

Changes in the NIGHTWISH camp... again. But the big news (at least in my opinion) is not who is out, but who is in...

... though so far only for the tour. Then... who knows?

Wait- what? They changed vocalist again?

"In recent times it has become increasingly obvious that the direction and the needs of the band were in conflict, and this has led to a division from which we cannot recover."

I wonder what this could mean. Is it just a cover for "we don't get along anymore" or is it genuine about the split in direction? Because I thought the keyboard player Tuomas was in charge regardless? Anyway, Floor Jensen has a powerful voice! She may even be my favourite female vocalist in metal.

After doing 5 mins of research I see that she (Anette) had been ill for a while this year, and that she bad-mouthed the band after they used substitutes without consulting her on a few shows. I hope she wasn't kicked because they got butt hurt or something...

She and the band decided that to separate for the good of both parts. Nothing apart from that has been said, but I think the fact that she's so hated and she's getting sick so often was a big argument. I really feel pity for her, she's an adorable woman, though she's not my favourite artist.

And most importantly, the singer of Nightwish for the meantime will be FLOOR JANSEN  ;D

I've already hear a couple of songs performed with Floor, and to me she really should be Nightwish's new vocalist. She can do well with the 'Tarja songs' and she also has what Anette had to offer to the band. If I were her I would stay with Nightwish and leave ReVamp behind, but she'd never do that unfortunately.
It sucks that they're coming to Latin America soon with Floor and they're not playing in Chile because we don't have any good producer :(

Maybe Floor can join Nightwish and have Revamp as a side band like Marco does with Tarot?  They have the new Revamp album to be released in March/April, then she can promote that and tour whilst Nightwish are taking a break as I'm sure they will be doing for Tuomas to write the next album ...

I will be seeing Nightwish with Floor in London ;D
(Unkind thought from me: they could get a different support band from Pain as they won't be needed on the tour anymore for Anette to be with her partner :P)

^That would work I think, maybe she could even play with ReVamp as a support band for Nightwish, but making both bands work can be a little hard in the long term. Let's hope she and Tuomas become friends ;)

Lucky you!

Well, she's already friends with Anette

oops

Tarja

no, that's worse.

Seriously, she does already know them at least.

Hah. Now I remember those rumors that circulated around 2007 - that Vibeke Stene was joining Nightwish after having bailed from Tristania. It kinda comes back somewhat. :)

Vibeke'd be wasting herself in Nightwish if she joined them. Firstly because her voice suits gothic metal and genres with less usage of 'powerful voices' better than Nightwish's music. Think of her soft vocals on songs like Endogenesis and her dramatic vocals on songs like A Sequel of Decay, you won't get that from Nightwish. Apart from that, I'd foresee loads of Nightwish fans not liking her for not being as cheerful on stage as Tarja or Anette. Vibeke deserves something better than that ;) I think she could be a good permanent singer of Green Carnation if they come back someday and start using more female vocals.

In case you haven't heard. This performance is fantastic, and she has really made the song her own.
