I can't find The 3rd and The Mortal in this poll :(

What a fucking awesome band....and way better than most of the other stuff (old Tristania and The Gathering are also great of course). way underrated.

Bands with female voices I listen to:

The 3rd and The Mortal (doom/gothic metal)
Blonde Redhead (indie)
The Gathering
old Tristania
Pure Reason Revolution (progressive rock)
Dead Can Dance (?)

Try this lot for a catchy tune or twelve. Yet another brilliant Femme Fronted Band from Finland, Katra- Beast Within
I for one can`t take this out of the stereo, it`s just to good ;D

Tristania is my #1 of course.
My other favorites would have to be Trail of Tears(with Catherine, I hate Helena's voice)
Draconian
Madder Mortem
Angtoria
Some nightwish, their are others too but I'd be on here all day listing them  ;D

So for me...Tristania, on the second place is Tristania and on the third one...ekhm, Tristania? :D
Maybe some years ago I could choose more from the bands above, but now...
I've found some more interesting bands, not exactly in the gothic/metal genre. The time is forever gone :)
I don't know why Tristania is so special that only this band left in my heart :)
Hmmm...maybe the reason is that their every album is complettly different? I love this feeling just before listening the brand new album...
Ahhh...I just can't wait anymore! :)

I agree... maybe their evolution as a band is just what doesn't let they sound boring and repetitive and this is what I like the most about Tristania too.
I have no idea about how the next album will sound like, and that drives me crazy! haha

Clear choice when i look at the bands i can choose, it's Tristania with Vibeke ;D.
I have another favourit band with a female voice, which i couldn't choose, it's Arch Enemy with Angela Gossow!

Draconian is also a really cool band, but they are most of the time to slow and melancholic for me... ^^

Out of the above, I chose Sirenia. Vibeke and others like Simone just don't do much for me.

My real favorites are Devil Doll - the female singer doesn't sing much, but her few parts are sung well (nice and twisted), but she is upstaged by the male singer, who makes a better female singer than she does, to be honest.

...And Ram-Zet.

well I am not so into Epica, because I know stonger vocalists in compare with Simone. Not that she isn't good enough, but in the Netherlands we have some interesting bands coming up like Revamp, Autumn and Stream of Passion. Those 3 frontwomen are more diverse, although I like the last Epica album a lot.

Nightwish nowadays isn't touching me. Ok good songs, well produced and the men have a lot of talent.. but Anette is not awaking any emotions when she sings. I think music is about that, especially vocals. Shame so, I have to find a new replacement ;-)

Love this project. Too bad Mr. Doctor isn't releasing any more music  :-\

...And Ram-Zet.
Mentioned this band a couple of times already. Gotta listen to them ASAP, I'm intrigued!

EDIT: Ram-Zet kicks ass :o
Norway never ceases to amaze me with their bands :)

Phew, tough one. My fave vocalists are indeed Floor Jansen and Anneke Van Giersbergen. As for including the vocals and the band, I guess The Gathering with Anneke is my #1 choice. Followed by of course, Tristania with Vibeke, Theatre of Tragedy with Liv and Nell, Trail of Tears with Cathrine Paulsen, Lacuna Coil and this is pretty much it.
