Your music was to stay forever...
« on: 22 May 2013, 20:26:01 »

R.I.P. Ray Manzarek and Trevor Bolder.
Two great musicians taken from us within the span of 48 hours.
The strong feeling is that the generation of the great ones from the 70s is rapidly dwindling until none remain... very soon.
I was lucky to have seen both of them in concert with their respective bands, but only once each.
So while the other rock and roll soldiers of that era are still around... by any means go and see them. At least you'll be able to tell your grandkids "I saw Deep Purple while they were still around", or something.

The line from my favourite The Gathering song seems apt now...

That's why I must go see Black Sabbath now, even though the prices here in Argentina are in-fokin-sane.

Not big fan of them, but I used to listen to them when I was like 8 years old because of my brother and I liked their music.

Wondering if I should go and see them (Black Sabbath, I mean) :-\

And about the lyrics I wish you knew your music was to stay forever... I definitely LOVE the part where it goes:
Oh I swoon while loud speakers play soft music. :P

Yes, you should go. It's the first doom and metal band ever, without them most bands we like probably wouldn't even exist (including Tristania!), and this is the last chance to see them. I think you'll end up regretting it sooner or later if you don't go.

Appropriate that you mentioned Black Sabbath. I'm lucky to have seen them twice - while they were calling themselves "Heaven and Hell", in 2007 and 2009 - before they lost Ronnie James Dio. By now, it seems, every major band of that era has lost one (or more) members / former members due to age, and certainly due to other mishaps (e.g. Jon Lord, Cozy Powell, Alvin Lee etc.)
