Illumination .. A flop?
« on: 19 May 2007, 14:03:32 »

Not judging it from a musical perspective but lets take it this way, illumination was released to a moderate amount of crtizim, some reviewers loved it some hated it, I for one loved the album

But Vibeke left the band sortly after, there are no tour dates and no music video in sight. The profit for bands usually comes from touring. So it seems to me that illumination was a flop .. or maybe i feel so since the mainpage hasn't been updated in 5 months  ???

I suppose it hasn't sold that bad, at least Tristania showed up at the front of many music magazines and got good critics there (at least in the German onces)

From a personal point of view, the last three Tristania albums ( W,o,G / Ashes / Illumination ) i bought before i`d heard any tracks, after Illumination i will have to hear most of the tracks from any future albums before i consider buying and i would not go to see them live on the back of Illumination , if this had been the only Tristania album i had ever heard i would probably not look at them again, so for me it is a bit of a flop / dissapointment but that`s just a personal opinion.

Deadlock i guess you have a point, but there was no continuation ... I hate to say this but *compare* them to sirenia, don't say tristania is 1000x better or what ever that debate is for another forum, and I know Sirenia took a much different perspective on their album but so far they have 2 Videos out and several confirmed gigs! Where is my Tristania? MyRavens topped MyMindsEye in the single charts over here as tehy took positions 1 & 2 and so it should be, but Tristania should continue that, they better get a female singer quickly

That means absolutely nothing, as our dear mr Hermanssen has been known to disappear for half-years at a time ever since the homepage's inception ten years ago... ;)

The only thing that really makes me worry is lack of tour dates.

Besides their private lives, I think Tristania is busy searching for a new female vocalist as well.

but so far they have 2 Videos out

Videos are so 1980's. I don't know anyone who actually watches videos anymore _except_ when they are included on a live DVD / extra material on a CD.

I quite liked that album (although I find Ashes was best) and I find it sucks that Tristania has been deadlocked by their search for a singer. I was hoping they finally would come to America for their Illumination Tour and then I can actually see them in concert. . .but now I'm not sure if that'll happen anytime soon.
