Evanescence is a baby group please the topic has no sense at all.

Arch Enemy, they have been in the Ozzfest and Evanessence is truly comercial, I think that this opinion comes from someone who does't know nothing about the undergound scene.

I think that Tristania is a mix betwen Moonspell and Tiamat with female and growling vocals.

First off Evanescence is a pop rock band. At least in my opinion they do not fall in the genre of metal or any subgenre of metal. The only similarity between Tristania and Evanescence is that they use choirs and strings in some of their songs and that they have female vocalists. Even though I think Amy Lee has a great voice I think Vibeke sounds a lot better.

Secondly, Arch Enemy? They're a great band but they're isn't any similarity at all except for the female vocalist and in this band they she growls instead of sings.

Thirdly, has Tristania done the same thing over and over again? No. Their first three albums are alike in the fact that they've used choirs and strings but still they sound different from one another. Now you have they're two more recent releases that don't have the symphonic sounds anymore. They still ocasionally use some strings and even a choir on Illumination but other than that they've evolved from the Morten and World of Glass era.

Bottom line these are bands that each have their own sound and as far as I'm concerned can't really be compared.

Yeh Tristania's better than Nightwish as I think 2 specially in the level of composition ther's a huge difference btwn Morten / Tuomas OR Einar / Tuomas coz Tristania's song n tabs r mostly touch a philosophical dimension specially in WoG  also the sad keywords notes but nightwish is totally different I don't said that Nightwish suck but what I'm searchin' in the music I found't with Tristania .
by the way lacuna's a great symphonic metal band but sometimes thy give  me the impression that I'm listenin' to the rap metal thy must kik Andrea's out n find som1 like Osten 
For Evanescence I lik'd a few songs of them lik My immortal or Lithium but lyricaly thy're suck suck suckkkkkkkkkk commercial for those who think that gothicisme it's jst cut his own veins or dress in black or i donaw listen to the music .
if that was gothicime listen to Marilyn manson n Evanescence  ... some dark wave or new wave sucks band I'm proud to announce that I hate gothicisme
