With the album art released I'll be making a new skin for the forums over the upcoming months.

Tristania are pleased to announce that their 7th album is entitled Darkest White. The record will be released via Napalm Records on May 31st.

Ole Vistnes comments: ‘After the release of Rubicon in 2010, I felt that we had opened the door to our new musical landscape, but that we still had a lot of places to explore creatively. With Darkest White we have dug deeper, searched wider and reached higher to create the most musically challenging and emotionally involving album we possibly could.

On my gramophone while doing chores: <Code> - Resplendent Grotesque

"Avant-garde" black metal with a lot of clean singing.

One of the tracks

Their (awesome) singer left to form his folkband Hexvessel (see below), I have yet to check the new lineup of the <code>

We've seen many requests of people who want the band to perform in certain countries/settlements. But the band doesn't plan their tours by them self, this is done by their concert management.

If you want to see the band at your preferred venue/festival, contact it's programmer/manager and ask him/her to take a look at or book the band. It's quite likely they want to know how the band sounds like, so direct them to the soundclips at

Tristania's concerts are being handled by Continental Concerts.

General Music / Re: Black metal

I definitely think it has a black metal feel to it. Almost as if it is a shinier song from Gorgoroth's Under the Sign of Hell, with male/choir vocals and a slight industrial feel. I actually think alot of their stuff have that black metal feeling. I mean, don't you think that Satyricon's Nemesis Divina sounds a little bit like Beyond the Veil?
No experience with that one (or much of Black Metal for that matter; I've only tried Mayhem and it didn't *click* with me). I'm asking because I was about to define Heretique as a BM song in a conversation and then started wondering if I'm way off base.

To give an impression of that album: start 2 vacuum cleaners and rapidly bang with a stick on a chair or something. At least, that was the impression I got.

Still have to check out Blut Aus Nord...

My apologies for random posts popping up in the band news section. I've installed a plugin to import news from the site, but it seems to update with previously announced stuff as well.

I'll redirect the updates to a hidden forum for now, untill we're up to date with the current news!

It also made the banner more fitting to the overall look. ;)

For those to you who didn't crumple to dust once they got radiated with all this white:
the custom theme didn't survive the forum-upgrade, so I'm going to rebuild it!

I can't give a date when it's finished, but it will be back! Security over eye-candy! ;)

Also, I installed a plugin which posts news from the website to the "band news" forum. It might happen it updates the forum with already published material, so bear with me!

Deathspell Omega - "Diabolus Absconditus"
The new EP! So freaking great!

Wait! WHAT?

Blut aus Nord also released an album a while ago.

DSO - A Tap Dancer's Dilemma.

I've always found tap wierd and useless but DSO made me change my mind 8)

I found that album disappointing, I hoped for more of those swing-style tracks as "A Tap Dancers Dilemma". :(

Offtopic, but:

There was just a basic theme back then, here's an archived view shortly after we renamed the forum from "crushed dreams" to "the illuminated" (and moved domains, with forwarding to this domain:

This is the first elaborate skin the Tristania-forum got.

(And before anyone asks: there won't be any custom skins for previous albums.  :P)

The banner in the top was added on behalf of the band. I'll try to find a static banner, because this is (a bit) over the top.

I think we had that one as well. It should be a closer estimation to #10.

Ehm... wanted to participate as well, but of those two I'm not sure which one I dislike less... Skipping for now...

Einar Moen: has become a hermit (kinda) but writes and records with Tristania;

More like: Family/Real Life duties, still makes music (like in Tristania)

Kjetil I. is in some local bands, last time I heard of him. (Very nice guy by the way.)

Rubicon / Re: Least Favorite Track On Rubicon??

I cannot stand Sirens and I'm not a big fan of Patriot Games. I also despise the bonus tracks (Caprice and The Emerald Piper). Other then that, I love the whole album. It sounds great :D

Patriot Games and The Emerald Piper are the only ones that actually bother me.

Heathen Scum!

« on: 15 July 2011, 11:43:41 »
Though maybe if somebody could give me an example of " the average Lacuna Coil song"

I think this song represents the average LC songs I know (except for Heaven' s a lie and still that sounds vaguely like that):

Well, maybe slightly less hiphop'ish

What the hell does this have to do with Tristania in Mexico?

Please don't post random video's or random remarks in threads with a purpose. We've banned you like 5 times in the past on other accounts for that.

2011 Tours/Concerts / Re: Tristania in Asia
« on: 15 July 2011, 11:34:15 »
Tristania has been forced to cancel the upcoming tour in China. The tour was
supposed to take place between July 20th and 30th and run through 5 different
cities. Comments the band: "We are extremely sorry it had to come to this, but as
we prepared for the tour, there was several strong indicators that something was
not right. We did not get the appropriate visas, there was a contract infringement
regarding the flight tickets, and it was clear that the level of communication
between the promoter and the venues was not professional. All in all there was no
other choice but to cancel the dates." On the hopes of new dates in China:" We
were really looking forward to the trip, and we really hope we can go to China and
the far East soon."
