The Violins!!!!
« on: 04 April 2011, 21:33:21 »

I'm so glad that Pete Johansen is back on the violins on some of the songs. It's been like ten years since Tristania worked with him in their albums.
It's one of the reasons I love the song Amnesia so much. What do you guys think?

i'm also happy he's back and i hop for more in the future.
but i love cello as well, though. actually it'd be very, veeery hard for me to choose among these 2 instruments. apart from johansen's playing and the parts he played in tristania and the sins of thy beloved, maybe i'd go for cello for a half point more ;) actually i loved how that sounds in Ashes!

p.s. i was listening to the sins today... so many memories, after more than a decade in which those records were released! they seem to be active but i wonder why the f*ck don't the give us some news, at least a confirmation they are alive!

I loved the cello on Shadowman and The Wretched. :)

Yes, I love The Sins Of Thy Beloved. I love Johansen's work on Worthy Of You. But jeez...where are they??? I was like three when the first albums came out and I just got into them...and i realized that they haven't done anything since then. Are they really still active?

well, metal archives says so. if you don't know the website i suggest you to check it out. you'll understand why they (righteously) call it metal encyclopedia. but before you start digging the website, be sure your money are in a safe place! i got to know so many bands during the years thanks to them! ;D

also http://www.tsotb.tk says they're active, with something going on that we don't know about. it would be wonderful if someone could ask to a bandmember of tristania or pete himself if they know something. i mean, "yes we're still active" and stop would be enough! last thing i remember is that anita auglend is back in the band after having worked in a butchery ( :o ) for years ;D

a little ot: it's really wonderful that you're so young and already so fond of this music! if you allow me, i'll suggest you 2 other doom-gothic metal bands that you'll surely love, IF you don't already know them: Amederia from russia (http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3540265491) and Shroud of Bereavement from the u.s.a. (http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=15828). maybe if you'll listen to something i'd be glad to hear what you think! and of course i sugest them to everyone. :)

W. T. F.  :o

On topic though, I liked the occasional violin on the album. A nice nod to the past without trying to "go back to the roots" which for most bands turns out lame. I'm glad Tristania doesn't try to do that - I laughed so much when I read Anders' message on the upcoming album "It will feature big, classical choirs with latin lyrics in every song - no, sorry, it won't". :D

bahahahahaha. Yeah. Their roots were excellent...but what they're doing now is as well. They just keep exploring and make music that makes them happy...because i'm sure it will make us happy as well.

Of course, every band must evolve and change, else what's the point in releasing new albums? I thought it was a good idea to invite Pete Johanssen, though. Just like a bit of choir in Sacrilege - a nod to the past without backtracking.
