i wouldn't say legendary and especially not a measuring stick for all gothic albums as i don't see it as pure gothic. i'd rather give tot's velvet darkness they fear that position.

other than that, ww is their best album and currently my favourite album (i can't stop listening to it).

As some people said, it can't be a measuring stick for gothic metal coz Widow's Weed sounded more Doom, but it should definetly be for doom/gothic albums.

I think't Beyond The Veil should be used for Gothic Metal instead.

Is Tristania gothic at all?

when I was younger bands like:
Bauhaus
Joy Division
Sisters of Mercy
Siouxsie and the Banshees,

Where considered gothic

Now we have cyber gothic, so the label gothic has become rather meaningless.
