I hope they don't.  If it ever happened I would have a strong suspicion it would be because of label pressure to release one more album to fulfill contract obligations.  It would be a bit disappointing like the re-release of Stormblast(Dimmu Borgir) both albums were outstanding without crystal clear production.

I would enjoy a re-release of "Widow's Weeds" just because I would want to see how this "new" Tristania affects their older material.

Besides, who can have too many copies of "Widow's Weeds"?  :D

Oh yeah, I'd buy it, but it doesnt need to be done. Some bands like the example of the aforementioned, do it because prior releases werent produced satisfactorily.
Anyone who says they wouldnt check it out is kidding themselves :P

If anyone needs to re-record an earlier effort, it's Theatre of Tragedy's self-titled debut. Oh to hear that one loud and clear, and now that Liv's voice is far more developed, it would indeed truly be a godsend.

Speaking of Theatre of Tragedy, anytime any of you may get bummed about something new that Tristania does, just think about Theatre's direction! OMG, talk about a change of pace!

Weve got it easy compared to Theatre's devotees  :D

WW is my favorite album of all time, but I still don't think I'd get it regardless. Especially if it had all the new band members playing those songs... then it's a definite no. It'd basically have to be a re-release with Morten and there would have to be some major extras and new artwork on there, otherwise I wouldn't bother.

I'd get it, but I think the band would benefit more from recording new material, touring or just relaxing. ;)

i dont think that a re-realease of widows weeds would be a good idea
THY album is perfect, it cant be better.

i think that tristania doesnt want to re release old albums. now they are playing the way they want to play and that its too far from the widows weeds style.

and i dont think widows weeds`s songs were made to be played with a voice like kjetil`s

I'm against that.. It'd be interesting but I think the magic of Widow's Weeds will be gone with a remake of the album..

I definitly don't think it would be better then a new album.
I mean it would be good because the quality on widow's weeds was much poorer then it is now, you are right about that.
The guitars would sound a lot better, on WW they sounded really staticy and the same on every track almost.
I think evenfall would be fun to hear.
A heavier Angellore might be nice, only KEEP THE BEGINNING AND ENDS! I love them.

Widow's Weeds is a piece of art. You can't re-paint it again.

Although I do admit, I would be curious as to what it sounds like with a better distortion sound. I HATED the static sound of the guitar on WW.

I totally wouldn't. Re-releases are there just so that the record company earns some more cash on the account of poor suxxorz.  I also like having original stuff from a band I really admire, but hey....

For me a DVD was completely unnecessary, because I had downloaded the vids years back therefore I didn't buy it. I'm not falling on that crap. Record companies are eeeewwww and phew

And besides, the new WW would totally differ to the old, don't ask me why, we don't want to start that conversation again....

Tristania is one of those bands where I've allocated a special amount of money to purchase their releases. (except Ashes of course)
So hell yeah! I'd more than purchase a re-recording of their greatest album yet and I wouldn't mind putting in another 40 pounds for a limited edition either! :)

But it's not re-recorded.. it's just modified... :)) not even remastered :))

But Widow's Weeds has a really plastic guitar sound.. Sounds like they used "Zoom" (a cheap guitar processor) plugged "in Line" (without any amp) :)

So it would be great if they would re-record it properly :)) I asked myself, why did the producer used such awful plastic guitar sound... Dismal Euphony had the same problems on first albums.. Sounds like home-recording :)))

I'm sure I'll buy it, but it will not be the same.
I feel like Morten is a very important role on the album ;)

Not really his only substantial contribution was the composition and that's already been done. As long as the songs remain the same, I think a re-recording would be awesome since the production quality would sound cleaner

No, I would have no need to buy it. Whatever sounds, effects, noises, etc...you hear was part of the recording process for that album at that particular time and it should be kept that way. Save the new technology and ideas for the newer recordings.
