The Modern End

This song is special.
I have the most impression with this song in this album.
I don't often listen to an album from the beginning to the end.
The first time I listen to an album, I'll choose a random song to listen to.
But World of Glass is an exception. I listened from The Shining Path to The Modern End.
Well, The Shining Path is perfect, and The Modern End is interesting.
I have listened to The Modern End so many times, till now, I still enjoy it. I can't forget the music of it, and the voice of Vibeke attracted me.
So is the album.
The flames went high to lick the skin on her chin
The words she said, for those words she would die
The crowd circles around her, praising their merciful god
Her screams got weaker
"Heathen, heathen" - The mass was shouting
The children that once were loving
Now their small hands were full of

Real great song! The 1st few verses, in my opinion, are quite......disturbing...well to me they are...  I don't mean scary, they just give me a eerie feeling which I can't describe. Great song all in all!!   :)

I love it. If it weren't for "The Shining Path", it would probably be my favorite song from "World of Glass".

..dang, now I have a craving to listen to it.

Yeah, song is nice but not typical for Tristania. But Vibeke's voice is absolutely amazing.

You all couldn't have said this any better.

I get this kind of feeling like, I don't know, how to describe it, but I love it.
I secrete my soul under thy wings of sorrow
Dark I embrace thy eyes, wander lost on life's narrow path...

To me The Modern End is just another song that really exhibits Vibeke's singing talents.

I dont really like The Modern End. It lacks the vocal contrast that's present on the rest of the songs. It's also lacking in lyrics. I just dont find it fitting in the album.

Wonderful song. Tristania couldn’t play a best cover for this album. The lyrics are very connected with the essence of World of Glass. I love specially this song, and I have written a poem inspirited in it (I don’t upload it here because it’s written in Spanish, and it’s in rims, so it would lose its beauty if had to translate it).

Do they know
They have slept for so long?
Do they know
The taste of their tongue ?
Do they know
They are trapped?

These lines are the perfect definition of the actual humankind.

I adore this song, the atmosphere is dark and charming ::) I'd love to see a video on this song, something like Heretique... sadly there's no chance they'll ever make it.
