some say this song sucks, others that it's one of the best songs on the album... i think it's THE best song on the album! the choirs are perfect and Vibeke's vocals are really haunting... so what do you think about it?

Well, (greetings from MS back to you Zeraphine Nice of you to join us! ) I think The Shining Path is one of the best on WoG. First of all, it's the perfect opening of an album, the powerful choirs just send shivers down my spine every time I hear it. Second of all, it has the perfect fusion of all vocal types - Vibeke again contributes to the song's atmosphere with her voice, that sounds vigorous and tired at the same time, like a sound of pure resignation veiled in anger. Kjetil's growls are the opposite of Vibeke's and that is how this song is in a way cyclic, it rounds in the circle of despair and anger. And the choirs just kick in as the linkin part between those two aspects/voices. And somehow I keep connecting The Shining Path with Crushed Dreams (my fave song on this album) into a cyclic form; both songs are somehow similar in its concept and form and the album therefore starts and ends on the same point, like a cyclic drama.

@Angina...i totally agree with you! The Shining Path is rather connected to Crushed Dreams... the same vocal mixture, haunting choirs... Vibeke's voice sounds very melodic in both songs showing once more her amazing ability to work her voice so that the song works much better. still The Shinning Path is still no. 1 in my heart (out of WoG) simply because it was the first song i ever listened from Tristania...

TSP is my favorite song...ever... I assotiate it with myself, my feelings, and when I hear it something from the deep of my heart rises and circles around me, constructing a circle of strong emotions...So I love this song very much I love evrything: growls, Vibeke`s voice, the lyrics, the music... And when I spell: 'Sacrifice me for my sins" I feel safe, so I spell it every time I`m afraid

"The Shining Path", methinks, is most definately one of the contenders for "Top Five Favorite Songs Ever". I can also imagine if I never heard that song, I probably wouldn't be such a huge Tristania superfan.
