Angellore (atmospheric doom metal band from France)
« on: 01 June 2013, 22:25:43 »

Hey everyone!

I would love to introduce you to my band, Angellore.

We are three musicians from France, trying to share our own vision of atmospheric doom metal.
Our main influences are Saturnus, Draconian, Theatre Of Tragedy, Empyrium, Tristania, Shape Of Despair, (old) While Heaven Wept...

And yes, before you ask, we take our name from that amazing Tristania song, from Widow's Weeds. The special atmosphere of this album has really changed our vision of Gothic/doom metal and has always been a source of inspiration for us.

We recently published our first record, "Errances" ("Wanderings", in french).

Although we already had some reviews on the internet, we are very eager to get some interesting feedbacks about our music. So, if you're into goth/atmospheric death-doom metal, please give us a try!

Here is a link to listen to our "single", "I Am The Agony"

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEHyfEhUAaY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEHyfEhUAaY</a>

Looking forward to read back from you! Please, share your opinion and comments!

Thanks a lot in advance ;)

I have already listened to "Errances" because a friend of mine put it on his list of favorite albums of 2012. Very good stuff!
I thought the band name was just a coincidence. Good to know it isn't!

Thank you man! :)

It's great to know that you already heard of us before (and that someone put us on a list, that's really flattering!)

Yeah, although Tristania may not be our N1 influence, our name is definitely linked to that gorgeous song.

In our mind, this name recalls the mysteries of eternity. And it sounds beautiful and frail, as a Lady's name. That goes very well with the vision we have about our own music.

Thanks for your welcoming :)

That's a good song! Almost every element of it tingled my interest! Definitely a Draconian influence there, especially the lead guitar sounded like it was from their first album.

Draconian influence I agree.

I liked the fact it becomes more atmospheric at some moments but also that the song has almost blackened sections (at the beginning). Nice vocals, the production is neat, good songwriting skills, congratulations!

I wouldn't surprise me if you guys make it to MFVF, you're better than most of the new "gothic metal" bands. Amaranthe, new Xandria, Delain, and so on are definitely not as impressive as this.

Good to know there's doom in France!

Thanks a lot for your attention, really, much appreciated!

@reumeren: True, Draconian, along with Saturnus, is probably our biggest influence. Especially the first two albums, that we listened so many times... Glad you enjoyed the song as a whole :)

@Illuminated World of Ash: That's really nice of you to say... But we would need to hire a female vocalist if we want to make it to this festival, right? ;) And in that song, although some people think it's hard to believe, the guitar-player Rosarius is in charge of all clean vocals! Anyway, glad to see that you enjoy our music much more than professional bands with more experience than us ;)

Hell yes there is! Some bands I like: Ataraxie, Funeralium, P.H.O.B.O.S., Eibon, Monolithe, Lethian Dreams, xx Xx, Monarch, The Austrasian Goat. I'm sure Walran has heard of some (if not all) of these, and several more.

Anyway, glad to see that you enjoy our music much more than professional bands with more experience than us ;)
In my opinion, being professional and having experience doesn't really define how great a band can sound. I'm used to listening to new bands that come out of nowhere, release an amazing first album, and could make several older bands wish they sounded so unique.
To give an example from my own country: http://humano.bandcamp.com/
The guy recorded and mixed his album at his home, and it's the most original black metal album I've listened to in quite a while.
So, don't be surprised if some people like Angellore more than other more well known bands. I can tell you I liked "Errances" much more than Draconian's last album, for example. You sound great and you deserve it! :)

Now that I pay more attention to those parts, it is a male vocalist actually :o
