Vanessa's Femme Metal Covers
« on: 23 June 2011, 04:27:19 »

Okay, so since i plan to do a lot of them...i'm just going to make it its own topic.

My most recent one...
The vocal cover of Crushed Dreams

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfA9nZh2FBw" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfA9nZh2FBw</a>

Exile:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYBLMfyVYmI" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYBLMfyVYmI</a>

Deadlocked: (all vocals and instrumentation done by me)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBEeFk0Qb4Y" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBEeFk0Qb4Y</a>

Bloodflower (Draconian) - This one is more of a "duet". I harmonize with Lisa's voice and add a few things here and there.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoG1cyVO9wc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoG1cyVO9wc</a>

There's a lot more coming!!!! Including covers of Lacuna Coil, more Tristania, Nightwish, Emilie Autumn (even though she isn't femme metal), Epica, etc.

Here's my Angina cover. I do both the growling and the operatic singing. I don't growl very much so tell me what you think!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woaaah, your growls are awesome. How do you make them ? (I'm trying to sing with growls too ;D)

Also your voice is awesome (for BtV, WW and WoG it's better than Mary's !). It's really hard to pronunce well the "glorificates the nightside ascandense veiled underneath thy funeral skies" and you made it perfectly !

Thank you :D

Yeah...for the growls, I use my diaphragm. It took me a while to get it down, but I guess you have to use the muscles from your gut to your throat. I'm not good at explaining it. If you just use your throat and your chest, it will make your throat hurt like a bitch.

Yeah, Vibeke's part in Angina is kind of hard to pronounce. It's kind of a tongue twister :D. Thanks again!

yeah most of the growling techniques are with pressure on the throat and the chest and some voice changes. I'll keep trying..

I'd like to see a cover of The Shining Path and The Wretched by you hehe ;D

Have you tried singing something from Lacuna Coil ? Maybe Hyperfast's and 1.19's growls would be good voices to cover 'cause Andrea's voice is a lot easier than Morten's and Kjetil's.

The Wretched and The Shining Path...lol...sounds fun.

Right now, I'm working on a cover of Death, Come Near Me... XD

as for Lacuna Coil, Andrea's growls are a different style and I've never attempted his growling before. When I sing Lacuna Coil, I like to challenge myself to sing Cristina's part because she's  contralto and I'm a...I think...I'm a soprano. I don't know, I've never taken voice lessons.

Vibeke's a soprano and you can reach her voice, maybe you're a huge mezzosoprano that could also reach contraalto voices 8)
